I am thinking about applying for a job at Staples. The position of the opportunity is called "Divisional Sales Manager". I do not want to waste time applying and finding out through the interview process that the pay cheque is too low. I checked Salary.com but there was zilch there in regard to the position I am enquiring about. I am located in Manitoba, Canada.
What the HELL do they expect? Will they fire me?
I started this radio advertising sales charge about three months ago. Turns out that because there are no territory assinged the veteran sales reps have adjectives of the businesses in town. (We are pretty limited contained by who we can call on becasue its a children's station) My manager give me leads he hears on other radio stations but 9 times out of ten I can't appointment on them because the decision makers are not local. Long story short the cards are stacked against me and I can't see opportunity long occupancy. The good part something like this job is that I don't have any set programme and I am being paid 35k basis salary. I just surface horribly guilty. It's not that I don't want to sell. I just don't really own anyone to sell to. The only businesses gone in town are the ones that have never responded to other salespeople. What do I do? Will I attain fired?

So I started this new sales available job with a smaller division of an EXTREMELY reputable company. The thing is, the charge is not all its cracked up to be. It is ALL cold calling.no real lead provided. On top of that...I can't call on ANY of the big national chains and most of the good local businesses enjoy been called on by veteran reps. Most of the polite prospects I find have been taken by someone else. Yet I am still expected to market which with the economy the opening it is makes is almost impossible. I think I enjoy made a big mistake taking this job. How is it with most sale jobs. Any thoughts?

Ive been going thru this thing lately where on earth i dont know what my career is. I am in a sale support position. I took the position thinking that it would lead to an actual sales position but two and a partially years later that hasnt happened. I work at a publishing company and i do work pretty closely next to marketing, product development, customer service, and of course the sale reps on a regular basis. My boss has me making things similar to training manuals, instrucions for an online type program we're doing. I still just touch like a nobody. I havent been promoted within 2 and a half years, i make 43k a year (i'm 29) I own 3 classes left, then i'll hold a MS in management communications. I own a new boss, he's great, so i'm hoping he will steer me in the right direction. What would you do?
