Do you want to be 18 years ancient for any restaurant kitchen career surrounded by New York State? Even prep cook?
I really need to know because I'm trying to get a summer brief this year (I live in Syracuse)... and I am going to college to become a chef and need experience to 1) Tell if this is what I really want to do. and 2) If I even want to APPLY to the Culinary Inst. of America, I call for 6 mo. culinary work experience. I want to know if its legal to hire kitchen help if they are below 18 (I'm 17) and also if it is likely I may get a work since I dont have "experience" (Although I do cook at home a lot) Thanks so much! :)

I used to work in a cafeteria . Every Tuesday, the supervisor ( Gertrude ) got her weekly shipment of food deliver . This food came sealed surrounded by cardboard boxes, and Gertrude cut them open with for a while knife . One day, she couldn't find this axe, and she accused me of not putting it back within her desk drawer . When there was zilch else to do, Gertrude told me “You can look for that knife you lost !” . About an hour later, the assistant supervisor ( Sharon ) said to me “You can stop looking for that gouge ! It finally showed up !” . A few weeks later, a friend of mine said “Sharon was probably using that axe and letting you take the blame, so SHE wouldn’t get into trouble !”. I doubt if she would enjoy gotten into trouble . She had as much right to use that knife as anybody . Sharon COULD enjoy said “It’s okay ! I’m using the knife !” . NOW -- Is letting somebody else take the blame any process to build team spirit ?

I know trhey clean and set up tables but do they truly have to wash the dishes ? If not who does bathe them?
